Summer Updates

Our summer has pretty much come to an end as Kevin went back to school about 2 weeks ago. He is excited to be starting his second year and is hoping to have more hands on things to do. Our summer was very fun! We decided to get season passes to King's Dominion (a theme park about 25 min. from our house) and it turned out to be a really fun thing for us to do. Since we have the passes we can just go for a few hours and not feel bad that we didn't stay ALL day. We were very pleasantly surprised at actually how many good rides they had. Kevin also was able to take his "little brother" one day and we also went with our friends one day who wanted to take their kids. We hope to be able to use our passes a few more times on the weekends and then they also have a special Halloween thing that they do in October.

Summer has also been great because we have been able to go to the beach a few times! We love the beach and we have found a great spot here that we really enjoy. Sometimes we even camp at this spot. This time Kevin and his friend Matt were able to do something new at the beach- CRABBING! They had a blast and went out as the sun was going down and caught like 30 crab. We cooked them up the next morning and ate them. YUM!

We also have been doing lots of fun things with our dogs, like the dog park and flyball training (a relay race for dogs). We dog sat one of our friends' dogs and took her and our two dogs to the dog park. I had to post this picture because i thought it was hilarious, and the Duncans will get a kick out of it. Here is our dog Jordan (the big one) and the Duncan's dog (the small one) at the dog park. It was HOT! Can you tell, their tongues are hanging out about a mile.

We have been wanting a bigger car for a while so we finally got a 1999 used Dodge Durango for a good deal. We love it. It is in really good condition and is perfect for transporting machines for my business and also is nice when we take the dogs places.

I am sure we have done a lot of other fun things that I can't think of. Kurt (Kevin's brother) and Laura came and stayed with us for a few days while they went to a wedding in D.C. It was so great to see them and catch up. We have been very busy at church. Kevin got a new calling as the ward mission leader and we have been having fun meeting new people and helping out the missionaries. We had two baptisms yesterday which made for a very busy day, but it was great and wonderful to see. I am the Achievment Days leader and have had a great time hanging out with the 8-11 year old girls in our ward. We love our ward and really appreciate all the friends we are making here and our great friends from Meadowbrook also.

We are so bummed we are missing the Helm family reunion in California right now, but we love you all and miss you very much. Hope you are having a great time and we can't wait to hear all the fun stories.

Next up... we have a lot of family and friends who will be coming to visit us in VA/East Coast area in the next few months. Can't wait!
