Over Labor Day we decided to take a trip to Richmond to visit our friends. We also decided to attend a college football game- BYU vs UVA in Charlottesville. It is kind of weird being a BYU fan again, seeing as how we graduated from the U and have been hardcore U fans for a long time. Don't get me wrong we are still true University of Utah fans, but we decided we should also cheer for BYU and give our boys more exposure to the school so hopefully they will choose to go to college there. We went to the game with the Hardimans. It was so much fun and the boys loved it, except for the weather. There was a huge thunderstorm coming through so there was like a two hour delay. We didn't want to leave the stadium and even if we did want to leave the game it was too long of a walk to be out in a storm. We stuck it out all crammed near the snackbars which were shutdown with thousands of other people. We waited it out and were able to see the whole game, unfortunately BYU lost, but it was a pretty good game! While we were in Richmond we also went to a baseball game with the Hardimans, Robinsons and Dunhams. It was so good to see everyone. Then on Sunday we had dinner over at the Dunhams with everyone again. The kids all got to play and we had a great time catching up.
At the beginning of October we planned a trip to Dollywood with the Robinsons And Dunhams. They made the long drive down and we went to Dollywood on Saturday and then Dixie Stampede. The rides were pretty great at Dollywood, but there weren't as many as I thought. The park was decorated for fall and we had great weather. Wyatt was in love with the "kids rollercoaster". His favorite part was just screaming as loud as he could. He went on it a lot and Kevin got the funniest slow-mo video of him screaming. Jack had a great time going on the kiddy rides. He also wanted to go again and again. He loved the airplane and ducky rides. Of course the Dixie Stampede was great as always and we had a great weekend. On the way home Sunday we did a little bit of shopping and got home. Glad we have such great friends we have fun outings with.
At the end of September Kevin had a work trip to Charlotte, NC and we went with him. We stayed in a big hotel right downtown. We did lots of "city" things while Kevin was in his conference. We walked to the shops/restaurants downtown and got some lunch. We threw pennys in the fountains. We went on a horse drawn carriage ride around the city. We found a fun playground. The last day we walked over to the childrens/science museum. It was great. We were there ALL day. They had an aurium and animal section. They had a hands on discovery section and some movies and tons of other stuff. It was a fun weekend and we liked being able to be right down town and walk to everything and enjoy the city. Charlotte really is a very nice and beautiful city! Can't wait to go again.
Grandma came in town for Wyatt's birthday and that is always a blast! Kevin and I got to go to the Columbia, SC temple while my mom watched the boys. It was so nice that we were able to go, it had been a while. While my mom was here we went to McDonalds a lot and played!! We also were able to check out Bays Mountain Park. It was pretty cool, they have hiking trails and a barge ride and animals you can look at. The coolest animals were the wolves! I didn't thing we would see them, but we did. Wyatt really liked the turtles and Jack loved the deer, lol. We did some shopping and got supplies for our grinch christmas trees. Then grandma helped us with the bday party and we went to the park a few times. We also went to the pumpkin patch. They had a great corn maze, a hay ride, a bounce house and lots of pumpkins. On Saturday we got to go check out Home Craft Days here in Big Stone Gap. It's a big deal around here and I wasn't able to go last year so it was cool to check it out. The boys were super sad to see grandma go, but they got to play a lot and have tons of fun!! (gotta get the pics off my old phone)
Halloween was fun, but kind of crazy. I never realized how big a deal and how many activities there are for Halloween! We had a party at the library and they got a ridiculous amount of candy, but it was fun to see all the kids dressed up. We also went to food city because they were supposed to have some activities, and we hung out with our friends Robin and Lucy. The day before Halloween and Halloween night we went to the museum and played the games and played in the bouncehouse and did a little trick our treating around that area. The boys had a fun time and looked super cute in their costumes. Jack was a cowboy which was perfect for him because he loves cowboy boots. Wyatt was Super Why. It's a cartoon on PBS, the kid's name is Whyatt and they do reading and letters and stuff. He loved being Super Why and thought he could fly when he had his cape on. LOL.
