We had some sad happenings on the farm. Our gray goat who has problems had a baby. This baby goat was the cutest thing you've ever seen. Everyone who saw him said that. Wyatt named him Wyatt and the boys pet him and held him a lot. They were in love with him. When he was about two weeks old we took him to the vet to get dehorned and castrated so he would just be a nice pet goat. Well there were some complications and the poor baby goat died at the vet. We were devastated. It was really hard and we were angry, but it gave us a chance to talk about heaven and where the goat went etc. A month or so later our other goat had two babies and one looks a lot like our first baby goat Wyatt. It has helped having the new baby goats around and they are funny little things the way the run around and chase each other and look for their mama. Another sad event was that our beloved dog Jordan ran away and didn't come back. Jordan and Charlie loved running and exploring on our mountain and we know that sometimes they went too far. Back in December Charlie disappeared for three days, but came home. Jordan also ran into something one time and had to get stitches. I guess it was a dangerous place, but they loved it. One night they were out late and it was snowing and Charlie came back late, but Jordan didn't. It was really hard that she never came home. She was honestly the BEST dog anyone could ever ask for and we always have and always will say that. She would come and cuddle with us, she would let the boys sit on her and pet her and crawl all over her. They loved her for that. Jack often called her a horsie. She loved to lick, especially the boys' faces. She loved other dogs, her and Charlie played and loved each other and hated being apart. She would freak out if we separated her from Charlie. The groomer told us that they tried to put them in separate kennels one time, but they would rather be in a kennel together even if they were crowded lol. She adored Kevin and would rub her face all over him and try to cuddle him. She loved sleeping at the foot of our bed even though it drove us crazy most of the time. She loved exploring outside and she did have a tendency to wander and sometimes get herself into trouble. I think she was a natural hunter at heart. She loved to chase deer and rabbits and other animals, and even killed some little animals. I'm glad she was able to come and live with us on the farm for a little while. She truly loved it here and would come home and be so tired and worn out for days. I'm glad she was able to explore on the mountain even if it was dangerous. I can promise no one had met and we will never met a more sweet and perfect dog. We know she is in heaven and we will see her one day and now she is up there and can take care of all of our farm animals that pass on. Wyatt still asks about her, sometimes a lot, but we can tell him she is in heaven. It is still a little confusing for him that she is never coming home, but he knows that she is up with Jesus and has lots of work to do in heaven. We love you Jordan and will always miss you!!
Along with death, we had another exciting birth. We got a new horse and she had a beautiful little philly. We named her Jupiter and the mom's name is Comet. She is so cute and it was crazy that we just woke up one morning and she had been born. Her and momma are still a little skiddish, but we are hoping to work more with them as she gets older. We also got some new fainting goats and they are really sweet and have a good disposition. A few of them, baby billy and Shadow are especially sweet and don't mind if we pet them and aren't scared at all. We have seen lots of them faint and it's pretty funny.
Wyatt had his first day of primary and he absolutely loves it! He loves his teachers and his friends and loves learning. His teachers said he is doing great. I know he is a little wiggly sometimes, but he honestly just loves it. It is so sweet to hear him come home and talk about what he learned and sing primary songs in his bed. The other day it was God Gave us Families. They have been working on that song and we have practiced at home too and it is so cute. Jack hates nursery, but he is talking a lot and wanting to play with kids more. He pretty much just follows Wyatt around and copies everything he does. It's crazy! Now he just repeats almost everything Wyatt says too. They are so funny! They love to tell everyone about the farm and all of our animals and about the deaths etc.
In February for Valentine's Day, we were sick of the cold weather etc and so we decided to head down to Gatlinburg for a family weekend out. It was a great weekend. We went to the indoor water park which was amazing. Jack liked the lazy river after he got used to it and would have just sat there all day. Wyatt really enjoyed the slides and he has been trying to swim more on his own (with his lifejacket), but without us always holding him. He is doing great and loves the water. We also walked around Gatlinburg and rode the little trolley, and did some mini golf. On our way out of town we rode go karts. Wyatt had the biggest smile on his face and absolutely loved it. Jack wasn't able to ride at first, but then we were going to go and he started crying and the man let us on. Jack liked it, but kept slipping down in the seat and looked scared, but he didn't cry and said "fun" afterwards. It really was a nice refreshing weekend.
Some other random things... Wyatt has been practicing riding his bike, when it isn't freezing. He has been getting really good, and we can go to the greenbelt and he can ride his bike while we walk. Jack has an obsession with cowboy boots. He wears his boots almost everyday and says "boots, like Dad". He loves them and wears them all the time, even without pants, lol!!
