Farmers??

I have come to realization that yes...we live on a farm, which makes us farmers.
Weird...
Starting out has had many many ups and downs, here are a few:
*Pipes freezing when it's cold=learned to leave water running at night
*Farming=death of animals, deal with it! (hard to do)
*Birds, specifically chickens and quail are STUPID!
*Don't ever let your husband convince you that 100 chickens is a good number
*Get your birds when it is warm (april) so you don't have to have baby birds stinking up your basement
*Your going to get dirty!
*The farm/animals still have to be fed when it is FREEZING outside
*Dogs and birds usually don't mix (ooops)
*Your husband can build a pretty awesome chicken coop
*Farming takes a lot of time and work
*Learning to use all the resources we have
*Splitting fallen down cedar tree logs for fence posts
*The weather can run your life! Yes you might be out in a rain/snow storm putting tarps over animal pens.
Your cars will get beat up- so far we had one stuck against a tree and get scratched, one car stuck in a ditch trying to get up our steep driveway, a flat tire, and a damaged tire from going down the dirt road on a snowy day and sliding into a rock
*Farming is rewarding (right! right???)
*Gloves are awesome, or you might just freeze
*Two year olds can be very helpful on the farm and love it!!
                      This might not sound crazy to some, but to me and most of those I know...this is                                 ABSOLUTELY CRAZY!
We have had just too many funny/crazy experience to at least not share something...I'm sure there will be more to come... like when we have to slaughter the roosters! That will be an EXPERIENCE!
