Life with 2 Kids!

Wow! I have a few free minutes. I'm sure I should be doing something else, but I want to update the blog some more. I have to start by saying that life with two very young kids is crazy. Just a 2 hour outing to park and store is an ORDEAL. And if you forget something (paci, sippy cup, wipes) it's a DISASTER and you might as well just turn around and go home. LOL. I really am laughing while I write this. The first month or so with the two kids was fine because we didn't go anywhere, now that we are trying to get out it sure is interesting, but fun. I never knew how blissful life was with one child as far as trying to get out, I guess I took it for granted, but now we have two awesome boys and they are both so amazing. Hopefully soon they will be able to play together and entertain each other when we go out (or just be really loud and really crazy, we'll see).

That leads me into saying that we have so pleasantly surprised with how Wyatt has acted since Jack has been born. He went through a little spell where he was hitting and throwing things a lot, but he has really been very loving and gently towards his brother. When he looks at Jack he has the cutest and best smile ever. I'm sure they were best buddies in the pre-existence. Wyatt most of the time knows he has to be gentle and touches Jack very softly. When we have been out a few times at a restaurant he will start babbling to the waitress and then point at Jack. He is so proud of his little brother and wants to show him off. But it still is hard some of the time when they both need something and I have to share my attention. Wyatt has really grown up these past couple of months. He really didn't walk until after Christmas (14 months), but now he runs runs runs. He is becoming so much more independent and will play on his own. He loves balls and he loves to be outside. He goes on the back deck and back yard for hours following the dogs, watching the airplanes and throwing his ball. He is such a good boy. He has also been very interested in books lately, especially animal books. He learned how to say "quack quack" and it was the cutest thing ever. He really doesn't say many real words, but this kid is a babbler. He will just go on and on and on. He especially loves to talk to his two grandmas on the phone and tell them what he has been up to. The only words that he says consistently are uh-oh and dadadadada. He says dadadadaa ALL DAY LONG. NEVER MAMA, JUST DADADADADA. When my mom was here he actually was saying something that sounded like grandma (more like gaw). Funny kid! He knows a little sign language- more and milk, but uses them for everything now, I need to teach him more signs. He loves kids and is more interactive now and can play at the playground, but he still can be a little shy and likes to just watch and follow instead of getting right in the action. Wyatt loves to follow dad and do whatever he is doing. He is such a helper and will throw things in the trash and take the keys and "unlock the door".

Jack has been very much a newborn. Wyatt did not have much of a real newborn stage, but Jack really has. He didn't open his eyes much for probably a month, very sleepy, and likes to eat a little bit, but very often. Pretty much opposite of Wyatt. The plus side is he has been a good baby as far as he hasn't been too fussy outside of being hungry or needing a diaper change. He hates being on his back and always wants to be propped up or on his stomach. His favorite thing is lying against our chests. Jack really had his own look when he was first born, but now that he is two months he is getting chubby cheeks and really starting to look like Wyatt. At Jack's one month check up he was about 10 lbs or just under (about in the 5-10th percentile), and at his 2 month check up he was 11 lbs 11 oz, and 23 inches long (about in the 25th percentile) so he is really moving up nicely. I think he will always be our little guy, we will see. Now that Jack is two months he is starting to recognize us more and smile. It is so fun. What a whirlwind it has been, but luckily we have had amazing family and friends to help us out.

Kevin is about to finish dental school this May and then we are going to be moving to far southwest Virginia (the very point of Va where it meets with TN and KY). We are so so excited! We found an amazing house that we are going to lease to hopefully own and it has 75+ acres with it. The few times we have visited have been amazing. It is so beautiful out there and the people we have met are wonderful. It is definitely more small town that we are used to, but that is what we wanted. We will be able to have our own space, camp, boat, hunt, go 4 wheeling, garden etc etc and be in a town where it is slower paced and people still have good christian values. We can't wait for this next adventure. Kevin will be starting work in June and the boys and I will get there in July. Wish us luck!!
