Busiest Week Ever!

I still have lots of California updates, but I wanted to put this post in before I forgot. We have had such a busy few months, but this week everything came together making it the busiest week ever. First there is the house we were trying to buy. We have been leasing it while we got our financing together and things literally came down to the wire. We needed to close by the 1st of Sept and there kept being issues that came up. First was the water. Because the house is fed by spring water, FHA won't loan on a house unless you put in city water, but if it is too expensive to put in city water then you have to get your water tested and it must be clean. So we had to get a contractor to come out to the house and determine that it was too expensive to put in city water. That was a pain because it took him forever to get us the bid back and then he had the wrong customer name on the paper so the mortgage people wouldn't accept it without the correct name. So now we needed to get the spring water tested. 1st test=fail, so the owner came and put in a small filter. 2nd test=fail, so the owner had to call a company to put in a nice UV filter. 3rd test=fail, we have no clue why, think the person taking the sample may have contaminated it. At this point we thought well we can't get a loan on a house with bad water, not to mention that we don't want to live somewhere with bad water. The water company people who put in the UV filter came back out to the house, checked out some things and then took another sample= PASSED!! WOW!

Then there were titleing and issues with the land and how they have defined the boundaries. For example, they defined the boundaries as 3 steps east of the pine tree etc. It took the titleing company a while to figure that one out. We had been trying not to spend a penny because we also had to verify that we had a bunch of money in our account. Like I said before we really needed to close before Sept 1st because of cash flow issues and things that were going on with the practice. When the titleing issues came up I really thought it was all over and we were going to have to move and rent for a long time. Normally when moving to a new area I would be fine with renting for a while, but there is really nothing to rent out here, we would have ended up in a single wide trailer. We just felt like this house was such a good deal for what it was and it really fit us. During this week my parents also planned a trip to come visit us which was great! We ended up getting a call on Fri that we could close and we needed to drive an hour to sign the papers. Luckily my parents were there to watch the kids and we were able to get it all done. It felt so good to finally be done and for the house to finally be ours. We can finally unpack the remaining boxes, put up shelving etc.

We closed on the house on Friday, my parents were in town, also Kevin's brother Kurt stayed with us for a night as he was driving through. It was fun to see him, he and Kevin played video games until very late- oh brothers! Fast forward to Sunday. We knew there was going to be a new bishop and bishopric called, but Kevin hadn't heard anything so we thought he was in the clear, lol. Then we got a call to a meeting a half hour before church started, we thought it was something relating to young mens, since he is the president. Well it turns out he got called as the second counselor in the bishopric, what a surprise! It was neat seeing him get set apart and we know he will do a great job serving the Lord and the people in this area.

We had a great time with my parents while they were here. We played outside a lot. Wyatt showed grandma and grandpa his fun water table they bought for him and how good he is with his t-ball set. He is pretty good at hitting the ball and after he hits it he says "NICE!". We loved showing them around Big Stone Gap, going to local restaurants, the park etc. One day we took a trip to High Knob. It's a nice state park area and outlook on top of the mountain. It was really beautiful and we brought a picnic up to the outlook spot. Then we went down to the little lake/pond and of course Wyatt loved that. We played just for a little bit because it was getting cloudy, but it was the perfect little outing. Wyatt loved showing gma and gpa all his toys and talking to them and telling them all the new words he says. Jack loved having the attention and being rocked to sleep by grandma. One of the other days we planned to go to a real coal mine in KY and do an underground tour. It sounded pretty cool, but when we got there they said they needed to push back our time almost 2 hrs. Well, those who have small kids know that sometimes a two hour delay just doesn't work. I told the lady that they would be napping by then and it wouldn't work for us, but maybe someone else could trade and be pushed back instead. They were really rude and didn't want to accomadate us, I was SOOO PISSED! Basically they didn't care and we left, most of our day was wasted (with the hour drive, planning etc). We were able to make the most of our day and go get pizza, Dairy Queen and to the park. We were sad to see them go, but we had a great time and will see them at Christmastime.

Other updates on the boys:
Jack is just getting so big- I knew he was teething and he finally had his bottom tooth break through.
He loves being talked to, flying, and smiling, but he does whine a lot.
He loves Wyatt- he will just sit and watch him and smile and giggle.
He also loves Wyatt's blankie. This can cause some problems because Wyatt is so attached to it, but Jack gets giddy when he can get his hands on it.
Jack is pretty good at scooting/ army crawling around, but he is trying to get up on his legs more.
Loves music like Wyatt
Wakes up happy in the morning. Wyatt and I go in there to get him out and we say "hi Jack" and he just grins. I love how Wyatt says "HI Jaks" very sincerely.
He loves cords. He knows where they all are in the house and he deliberately craws to that location to chew on cords.

Wyatt just says the cutest things! He loves to talk to new people and show off when people come over.
Some of his cute sayings are:
"OH NO"... then followed by something, one of my favorites is when Jack is crying he will say "Oh no Jaks"
"Made a mess"- he uses this quite often!!
We go to the library for story/music time and he asks the lady for "more songs" and that kid just dances like crazy.
"I dot it"= I got it.
Sits on the dog Jordan and says "Ride"
Says "tarlie"= charlie (the dog) for both dogs, we keep trying to get him to say Jordan and ask him what her name is but he just says charlie every time.
Finally saying "mama" a lot, I don't know why he resisted that one so much.
Knows some of his colors, mostly just blue, but tries
Also tries to count, is getting close to being accurate
Also tries to say and identify letters, but usually is wrong, mostly tries to use O or B.
Favorite animal is a whale (seaworld), he has some whales and loves showing and telling people what it is. Says "whale...swims....water"
Loves water, always tells me "bath, swim, water"
He says so many things, but those are some of his top ones I can thing of right now.

This video is freaking hilarious. Wyatt absolutely loved watching the Olympics, especially the water sports. His favorite was definitely diving. He would keep asking me for more (that is what he is signing), and when they would splash in the water he would scream and laugh. He did it every time we watched them and loved it!

Smiley baby. Everyone says he is the best baby. With Wyatt we agreed when people told us, but with Jack he is super good when we are out, but he cries a lot at home when he is bored or teething. He still is happy a lot and is so sweet!
